The public sector accounting qualification is designed to address the lack of skills in the public sector and provide graduates with the knowledge to assist government operate more productively. This qualification will enable students to produce high quality financial statements, implement basic internal controls, conduct effective internal auditing, and apply sound accounting and financial principles. The public sector accounting qualification is designed over three phases, the Foundation Level through the Intermediate Level to the Advanced level. A student will be able to achieve their associated NQF qualifications at each of the levels on successful completion. The knowledge you gain in each successive qualification builds on the last, allowing you to take on key functions and increased responsibility in your workplace.

This qualification is intended for learners who wish to gain knowledge, understanding, skills and application techniques that will enable them to be successful in their work as qualified accounts administrators in the public sector.

Purpose of the Qualification:
This qualification is intended to provide you with knowledge, understanding, skills and application techniques that will enable you to be successful as qualified accounting technicians in the public sector. The Diploma in Public Sector Accounting will provide with you the knowledge and skills such as accounting
systems, risk management, controlling of inventory and cash flows.

Purpose of the Qualification:
This course prepares the learner to work in the Financial Accounting field and develop a specialist accounting and management career, either within South Africa or in other countries around the world. The learner will have the necessary knowledge, skills and insights to operate at a second or third level in Financial Accounting in a large organisation or assume full responsibility for the function in a smaller organisation.
